Showtime’s biggest new project for the fall schedule has been the Claire Danes & Damian Lewis led, terrorist conspiracy thriller series, Homeland. The show has been a breakout success, and despite attracting modest ratings averaging between 1 and 2 million, ending with a finale audience of 1.71 million, the show has been renewed for an eagerly anticipated second season.

With the arrival of the awards season, Homeland has received a number of prominent awards nominations. Firstly the show has been nominated for Best Dramatic Series, Best New Series and Best Episodic Drama at the Writers Guild of America Awards. This is to add to the Golden Globes double of Claire Danes and Damian Lewis, in their nominations for the best Lead Actress and Actor in a dramatic series, and the nomination for the show as the best dramatic series, pitting itself against such heavyweights as HBO’s Boardwalk Empire and Game of Thrones.

In Spring 2012, the show will return for what now seems like an eagerly anticipated second season, with 12 episodes already ordered by showtime. Furthermore, all signs point to the return of the three main stars, Damian Lewis, Claire Danes and Morena Baccarin. 3xcusemyfrench hopes the show will return, bigger and better than ever before this year!
